Ferrum Machining Inc. conforms to ISO 9001 quality control standards, as well as MIL - I - 45208 Inspection System requirements. A copy of our quality control manual is available upon request.
“125 Ra Max” – Sufficient for most applications. Provides an aesthetically pleasing, functional surface that is easily achieved in the manufacturing process.
“63 Ra Max” – Sufficient for most sealing surfaces and all other applications.
“32 Ra Max” – Often used for surfaces that contact other moving components, such as bearings, where reduced friction is important or on cosmetic features of a component. While achievable in the manufacturing process, tooling will be slightly more expensive to account for increased tool consumption.
“16 Ra Max” – Very smooth surface finish. Typically only required for specialty applications and medical parts. Achievable, but requires more tooling and machinist involvement during manufacturing.
